Thursday Finds & Budgeting

Most of the time I (Bailey) buy clothing or jewelry it is almost always on sale! I find it hard to buy something full price when I can just wait a couple weeks or so and buy it discounted. My husband may have helped me with this mindset once we started dating. He is definitely frugal and only spends money on house necessities and Black Friday deals. He NEVER splurges on himself and expressed to me the other day how he wants minimal amount of clothes. On the other hand, I want to get rid of everything in my closet and go on a shopping spree. I wish I could be a guy and live the simple life of 2 pairs of pants and a couple work shirts. You can imagine our conversations when I try to explain why I bought another pair of leggings.

Being married to him has 100% improved my financial knowledge and we even took a financial class before we got married to see where we each stood. We found out that I was the spender and he was the saver. Shocking, right? After this class we set up monthly budget meetings to lay out our budget for the next month. This is so helpful when I'm going to buy something for myself and I don't have to feel bad for it since there is room in the budget. Having budget meetings also helps us get on the same page for what is going on during the next month. We may need to spend extra money on our car or doctors appointments and that is the time we talk about those things. It also helps us keep track of our paycheck and payments we have that month such as rent, loans, car, insurance, etc. We update our budget app with each purchase we make so everything is real time and we can look back and see what we need to work on for the next month. You can find tons of apps that help or use a book to keep at home, but Trenton and I use the Every Dollar app. It's downloaded on our phones and super simple to input our expenses. I don't claim to know much about finances and honestly I'm still learning A LOT, but I do know the importance of not being blind to your financial situation anymore and actively participating in a budget.
